Why You Should Visit Bulgaria

CHEAP DEALS ON BULGARIAN HOTELS HERE

Bulgaria has recently gained a reputation as a third world country filled with backward and dishonest people whose main aim is to get into the UK and steal your wallet, homes and jobs.
Having lived here for many years, this couldn't be further from the truth. Lets show you the truth of this beautiful country I am proud to call home.  Here are my favourite 10 places to visit

Asen Fortress

Asen's Fortress is a medieval stronghold and a serious indication of Bulgaria's wonderful past. It is found 20 km from Plovdiv and around 150 km from Sofia. Asen's post was based on a lofty rough slope around 3 miles south of Asenovgrad, one of the most seasoned and most wonderful towns in Bulgaria. Take the Asenovgrad - Smolyan street (it is in great condition and is viewed as one of the best picturesque streets in this nation) and take after the signs.

Cape Emine

Cape Emine is the end, easternmost, point of Stara Planina (the Balkan Mountains). After the last Balkan peak of Sv. Iliya (St. Elijah) the mountain gradually descends towards the sea and ends with steep coasts, almost completely vertical in places. Except for the little town of Emona and the two weather beaten army installations, the entire district is unmarred by human action. In May everything is green and secured with blooming blossoms and herbs and there are no individuals. Afterward, in the mid year, amid the dynamic visitor season, the place winds up plainly livelier because of the tourists.

Plovdiv

If you love history then a visit to Plovdiv is a must. The city of Plovdiv was ranked 6th amongst the oldest inhabited cities in the world The Old Town is compact however it is based on three slopes and the boulevards and the roads are made of exceptionally rough cobblestones. The new town is more vibrant with fine restaurants and bars. There is so much to see from the Roman Fortress to the Ethnographic Museum you will need at least two days here.

Nikopolis ad Istrum

Bulgaria is hometosomeof the most spectacular Roman remains which have stood the test of time. The site at Nikopolis ad Istrum located just 20 km from Velko Turnovo are the most impressive dating back to 101-106 AD.

Rhodopes Mountain

This is the best way to see some authentic unspoiled Bulgaria .Whether mountain biking or hiking the views are spectacular and beautiful. The highest village in Bulgaria Ostevo is also worth a visit.

Carpet Factory At Kostnadovo

The only factory for hand-woven carpets in Europe can be found in the small village of Kostnadovo near Velingrad. It is open for tourist visits so you can see the actual carpet-making process and learn more about the history and present of the factory.

Ovech Fortress

Ovech is a stone fortress the remains of which still stand on a ship-shaped plateau east of Provadiya, some 53 km from Varna.  The fortress can be reached both by car  and on foot via the Ovech eco trail). The Ovech eco trail is a perfect for hikers but with plentyof seating along the trail, even the less fit can enjoy the picturesque views. The eco trail starts from the city center of Provadia and goes along the western slope of the plateau.
